Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s government on Wednesday warned against measures against those issuing false medical certificates in support of co-morbidities specified for the Covid-19 vaccination.
In a letter, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra urged licensed physicians to follow guidelines issued by the Union Health and Family Department on co-morbidities when issuing certificates.
Mohapatra wrote the letter to district collectors, city commissioners, directors of health, superintendents of medical schools and district medical officers.
“Any detection of the false medical certificate will result in action against the approved physician concerned as well as the person producing this false medical certificate in support of the specified comorbidities,” the letter said.
Mohapatra called on authorities to instruct all concerned to remain vigilant against any misuse of the provisions by issuing false medical certificates.
In particular, the Covid-19 vaccination program was deployed from March 1 for citizens aged 60 and over and those aged 45 to 59 with specified comorbidities, subject to certification to this effect by a licensed practitioner.
